The City of Terred

Built on a rocky outcrop, the fortified city of Terred for a long time was held to be invincible, and the counts of Terred were among the most eminent nobles of Gondred. Yet during the Arian conquest, siege engineers devised heavy catapults which managed to not only reach to the upper edge of the rocky plateau, but during a half-year siege reduced most of the city to rubble. It was subsequently re-built by the Arians, first around the old fortifications in the eastern part of the plateau, then, as the population expanded, he whole plateau was walled.

Terred

Terred's walls have fallen since partially into disarray, since there is simply no enemy left anywhere near who would possess the siege-craft of the Arians, and once again just scaling thr thirty meters of rock plateau is taken to be an impossible feat.

Due to the limited space, Terred's streets are narrow and cramped, and of late the city has expanded to include quarters outside the fortifications, most notably at the river crossing.

There are persistent rumors of a vast warren of subterran corridors connecting the temples and monasteries to secret chambers inside the rock plateau, and whispers of black magic meetings in hidden places, but if there is anything to these rumors, it never could be proven.
