Aznapam
![]() In the heart of the city are the mighty pyramid temples of the Aznari twin gods - Tecotecumo and Ishaishaol. Here, where vast plazas are covered with titanic stone slabs, the better quarters of the city can be found where the residences of important officials are built from stone, right next to the palace of the sapa. The western river mouth serves the transport of goods from the inland by the Aznari, there are several ocotawi store-houses from which the population gets their food. The eastern river mouth has been taken over by the Elorans, who built a substantial harbour for their merchant ships and military fleet as well as tore down a sizable share of the common people's buildings to construct an Inner-Sea styled trade quarter. Naturally, this hasn't helped their popularity with the natives. Space is in fact so scarce in Aznapam that a good part of the town has been build on rafts floating in the seawater, the various itos, out of which achacha has been the first. Since Aznapam is usually sheltered from storms and both the sea and the riverwater move very sluggishly, it is hard to tell inside the warren of an ito that one is in fact not on solid ground. Due to its very nature, Aznapam is an excellent place for people who want to disappear - the Eloran legions have in fact little control or insight into what is happening beyond the confines of the trade quarter, and to search an ito for a fugitive is something that simply can't be done. In contrast, the local xaltoc usually have a relatively clear picture of what is happening where, not only because they have a densely-woven net of informers, but also because they control the ocoli system of resource distribution.
